Løken Gård
Løken Gård is situated in Fetsund, 30 kilometers east of Oslo, in the midst of a beautiful, fertile landscape. We are surrounded by undulating fields, forests, hills and a large fresh-water delta rich in fish and birds. The land here has been cultivated for many thousands of years. Behind our barn archeologists have found remains of pillar holes of old pillar houses dated to around 3600 B.C.!
Bjørn grew up on Løken Gård and took over the running of the farm at the age of 19. He ran the farm at the same time as he took his education at the Eastern Conservatory of Music in Norway and he continued cultivating the land also when he worked as a professional percussion player in all the big symphony orchestras in Norway and taught percussion first at the Eastern Conservatory of Music in Norway and then at The Norwegian Academy of Music, where he still teaches. In 1992 he stopped farming and focused only on the music and his spiritual development.
Now the circle is closing and some of the soil at Løken Gård is being cultivated again by us. (The rest of the land is partly cultivated by a neighbor and partly changed into a golf course). We have created a potato- and vegetable field behind the barn where we grow many different kinds of vegetables. We also have a herbal garden and two green houses where we grow cucumbers, tomatoes, squash, peppers and melons. It is pure joy to be a part of the whole process from planting the seeds to harvesting. There is so much love and gratitude in the contact with the earth, the sun and the rain! We feel really blessed to have the opportunity to grow our own food! And we are very happy to share it with you who come to our workshops and courses!
We are also very happy about restoring our beautiful old barn! We will soon present some pictures of the process.
