About Bjørn

I am Bjørn Løken. It's not only my name, but me! I am a professional musician with percussion as my main instrument. I teach classical percussion at the Norwegian Academy of Music where I am Professor and Head of the Classical Percussion Department. I am also a healer practicing shamanism/energy medicine, a Music therapist and a Kundalini Yoga teacher.

My interest in esoteric/shamanic work started at the age of 18 with reading a book by Carlos Castaneda, "Don Jouan's Teachings". Since then I have read a lot of books concerning esoteric work, but I didn't go really deep into it until I fell severely ill with cancer in 2004. Then I understood that I had to follow my path combining music with healing, and not postponing this because of lack of time. I had to make time here and now or maybe I would not get that time at all.

Musical background

I studied to be a classical percussion player at "Eastern Norway Music-conservatory 1977-1981. I started my professional musical career, still at school, playing in all major symphonic orchestras from 1979: Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, Trondheim Symphony Orchestra, The Norwegian Opera Orchestra, The Norwegian Broadcasting Orchestra and also the Military Bands in Norway. I was playing regularly in the orchestras until 2018. Besides that I have played in a lot of smaller ensembles and percussion ensembles. I have also played in rock-, pop-, jazz-, and big-bands. I started teaching Classical percussion at "Eastern Norway Music-conservatory" in 1984, and from 1995 at the Norwegian Academy of Music.

Alongside my musical career, I ran my farm from 1975 until 1992.

Spiritual background

I was trained in Reiki 1, 2 and 3, 2006-2007, by Amalia Carlie, clinical psychologist. She also taught me Jichu Gong, a form of qigong within the Biyun method.

Did Munay Qi both with Brit Ingunn Næasfeldt and Marie Ytterman in 2009.

Did shamanic training with The Four Winds Society - "Healing the Light Body School" - 2009-2011. I also attended a lot of classes with and worked with the Q'ero Shamans from Peru 2010-2014, both in Peru and in Sweden.

Did Yoga Teacher training in Kundalini Yoga 2011-2013.

Since 2012 I give courses in how to play Gongs and Crystal instruments therapeutically, both in Norway and Sweden and sometimes elsewhere.

Did Coach training "Whole-Self Journey TM Practitioner" with Angel Buster in 2013.

I gave shamanic/energetic medicine courses together with Marie Ytterman from 2013 until 2020. In these courses I played a lot, using Gongs and Crystal instruments, besides helping Marie with the teaching. In 2014 I met my wife Maria Løken on one of the shamanic courses. Between 2015 and 2020 she participated in giving these courses. Since 2017 my wife and I give our own courses in shamanic/energetic medicine.  

In 2014 I attended "Gong Yoga Teacher training" with Mehtab Benton.

In 2014 and 2015 my wife taught me different forms of Qi Gong within the Biyun method - Dong Gong and Dolphin Power Qi Gong. I also took a course with the founder of the Biyun method - Fan Xiulan - Five Elements' Qi Gong. Since 2017 I assist my wife Maria in her own method of Qi Gong - "Soul Journey Qi Gong" - by playing Gongs and Crystal instruments.
